Fiji Bottled Water

Can it be true that Fiji  Bottled Water will soon no longer come from Fiji?  Is the bottler’s future uncertain?  I wonder how this will play out – It seems the Fijian government has chosen to view Fiji Water as a cash cow with a radical new tax that essentially (and selectively) wipes out their business.  Fiji Water – Press Release Or maybe the Fijians becoming protective of one of their primary natural assets – good water.  This tax equates to $525,000 per month at 3.5m liters – wow!

On another note, can you really grasp the carbon footprint required to collect, treat and bottle water in Fiji, truck it and fly it 3,000 miles to the US for more ground transportation to your supermarket? If you think about it, there is a much better way to achieve quality water directly from your tap – properly designed whole-house filters can do this for you.
