Specifically, we want our product to clean and refresh itself on a regular basis. Usually every seven days is best. We expose more surface area and therefore dramatically increase the life of the media.
This filter system is much better than standard whole house water filter cartridge systems because of the regular cleaning and restructuring of the media. And in our product, the Healthy Home Solution, this is all done with an automatic back-washing feature which requires a connection to a drain. The water that drains out is clean water. There are no chemicals added, nor does it introduce any sodium or chloride as is done by traditional water softeners. This water can be directed to either the sewer, a landscape drain, or to reuse for irrigation and landscape watering.
